New York: Solidarity with the Argentine general strike, Jan. 24!

By WORKERS’ VOICE

Unions in Argentina have called for a one-day general strike on Jan. 24 against far-right President Javier Milei’s austerity policies. From day one of the Milei regime, he has launched a frontal attack on the working class of Argentina. Like Donald Trump in the United States, Victor Orban in Hungary, and Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil, Milei represents the rise of ultra-right reaction in response to the multiple crises of the capitalist system worldwide. Faced with economic, political, and environmental crises, the ruling rich have no real answers except more austerity and repression.

It is essential for working people and their unions worldwide to build the broadest possible mobilizations of solidarity with Argentina’s working class. In the face of this onslaught, we recall the old labor movement slogan, “An injury to one is an injury to all.” Workers’ Voice offers unconditional support to the unions and revolutionary socialists of Argentina as they prepare for a fightback. Now is the time for the greatest possible unity in action.

It is in that spirit that we endorse the protest action called by the comrades of Left Voice in New York City on Jan. 24 at 4 p.m. outside of the Argentine Consulate. We urge all progressive, labor, and socialist organizations to mobilize for this demonstration. Let’s show the workers of Argentina that U.S. workers have their back!

Solidarity with the Argentine general strike!

Down with Milei and his austerity program!

Wednesday, Jan. 24, 4 p.m., Consulate General of Argentina,12 W. 56th St., New York, N.Y.
