​STATEMENT APPROVED by the WORKERS’ VOICE CENTRAL COMMITTEE

On Friday, June 21, in a cowardly attack on free speech and democratic rights, vandals threw two bricks through the front windows of the national headquarters of the Freedom Socialist Party (FSP) in Seattle. On display in the windows were a Palestinian flag and a sign reading, “End US Aid to Israel.”

FSP member Andrea told KING 5: “Acts like throwing bricks through the window, anonymously, with people you disagree with is very cowardly.” Bauer continued, “What people need to do is decide which side they’re on. Are they going to stand up for human rights, civil rights and occupied people like Palestine, or look the other way?”

FSP National Secretary Doug Barnes stated: “Somebody’s trying to intimidate us, but we aren’t going to be intimidated. We’re going to keep on doing the work.”

Israel’s onslaught against the Palestinian people has been matched by a bipartisan U.S. ruling-class assault on the right to free speech. Supporters of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination have been smeared as being supporters of terrorism and antisemitism, while U.S. taxpayer dollars are used to finance the slaughter of Palestinians. In some cases, pro-Palestine protesters have been physically attacked by pro-Zionist goons.

Supporters of democratic rights, as well as supporters of the Palestinian people, must speak in one voice against the lies and slanders. We must stand up against the sort of violence perpetrated against the Freedom Socialist Party.
