Workers’ Voice is an endorser of the June 24 labor-community press conference for reproductive rights. The event is sponsored by the National Mobilization for Reproductive Justice. We urge our readers who can travel to Washington, D.C., to attend the event in person, or to watch it via livestream (see the link for the Mobilization‘s Facebook page below).

We’re D.C.-bound for a historic labor-community media action for reproductive rights!

On Monday June 24, members of the National Mobilization for Reproductive Justice will be standing in front of the AFL-CIO building on Black Lives Matter Plaza in Washington, D.C. with an impressive array of labor unions and community organizations. This press conference is the culmination of a two-year campaign calling on the national AFL-CIO to take urgent action in defense of reproductive justice.

Press conference cosponsors and speakers will represent Metropolitan Washington Council – AFL-CIO, AFSCME Local 88, AFSCME Council 57 Retiree Chapter, Freedom Socialist Party, Georgia NOW, Metro DC DSA, National Organization of Legal Services Workers (UAW 2320), Nonprofit Professional Employees Union (IFPTE Local 70), Oregon Chapter Coalition of Black Trade Unionists, Radical Women, Reproductive Justice Maryland, and United Auto Workers 2110 and of course, the National Mobilization for Reproductive Justice.

A delegation will deliver 640+ letters to AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler urging an emergency labor conference for reproductive justice. The signers include thousands of people represented by labor councils, union conventions, locals and retiree chapters, constituency groups, organizations for reproductive rights, gender equality and civil rights, plus individual activists and labor scholars.

You can be part of making history by attending the press conference via livestream at the Mobilization’s Facebook page, starting at 10:00 am ET (7am PT).
