Only a few months before the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, jeopardizing access to abortion for millions of people, Colombians won significantly increased access to abortion, culminating years of struggle. How did the Colombian pro-choice movement achieve this victory, what lessons can we learn from their fight to apply to the struggle for reproductive justice in the US, and how do we take up these battles on an international scale? Join socialist pro-choice activists in Colombia and the US for a panel and discussion taking up these crucial topics.
Panelists will include:
- Maria Paula Houghton Martinez, founder and leader of the Medical Group for the Right to Decide in Colombia, Global Doctors for Choice, a member group of Just Cause, and the Socialist Workers Party of Colombia
- Kim Gasper-Rabuck, a socialist reproductive activist in the U.S. Since the Texas Heartbeat Bill over 30 years ago, she’s been organizing speakouts in Wisconsin and is currently involved in local and national coalition building
- Dolores Underwood, Workers’ Voice, United States
