Socialist Resurgence launches campus drive in Connecticut

Millions of people in the United States are rejecting the business as usual approach of the Democratic and Republican parties. Twenty million went out into the streets last year independently of any call from major institutionalized organizations. Tens of thousands stayed in the streets for months despite extreme repression and the extraordinary promises made by capitalist politicians. That energy remains in full effect, waiting for the next spark to bring a new flame.

The Connecticut branch of Socialist Resurgence is beginning a fall campus drive to help give a revolutionary organizational backbone to the mass radicalization sweeping through young people on and off campuses.

SR is building public in-person forums on five campuses in the state to discuss the reproductive justice movement and start to rebuild the independent capacity of students and workers to struggle for reproductive rights—with Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, and other women and queer people in the lead.

Over the last week, SR members have been flyering everyday before and after shifts in factories, schools, and classes. The reception has been overwhelmingly positive with many students and young workers voicing their understanding that the way forward for abortion and reproductive rights is not through the courts but along the road of mass action.

Kickoffs will be given by Regina Loncarevic, manufacturing worker and member of Socialist Resurgence CT
