[translated excerpts]
The revolutionary process in Ukraine has became one of the most advanced in the world. The heroic struggle of the Ukrainian people, which began last November, was crowned on February 22nd with a stunning victory: the fall of the murderer and oligarchic government of Yanukovych.
However, the most striking thing is how the overthrow of the hated ruler and the political situation that opened from this fact occurred.
Between February 18 and 22, protesters in Maidan square and the improvised self-defense wings defeated all attempts by Berkut (special police forces) to break the backbone to the movement, caused the break in the chain of command of the Armed Forces about their involvement or not in the physical crushing of the square on Saturday the 22nd between the terrified flight of Yanukovych and the “removal” of this in the Verkhovna Rada (parliament), and took over control important public buildings, such as the presidential palace, the Central Bank, and key ministries in Kiev, and thus opening a classic situation of dual power.
One of the main drivers of the Ukrainian revolution, in addition to the economic crisis and the actions of former Bonapartist Yanukovych government, is the historical fight against national oppression of Russia, which has economic, cultural & political expressions. This national oppression is currently embodied in the despotic policy pf Putin that considers all countries part of the Russian oligarchy as part of its “sphere of influence”, and that in the Ukrainian case, the masses rightly identified Yanukovych as the main Kremlin agent. Therefore, the fall of the tyrant of Kiev is a direct defeat of Putin.
The lessons of this revolutionary new process for the world left are immense. In this article we present a first analysis of the revolutionary process and aim to put forward deep outlines of some perspectives.
