Gaza is suffering a Zionist raid. As we are writing this statement, the toll of Palestinian casualties has reached 27 – 7 out of whom are children – and the number of injured is over 253, most of them civilians, 62 of them are children.
This Israeli aggression is part of what is known as Operation Defensive Pillar, which stemmed out of rockets launched by Palestinian groups, seemingly linked to Islamic Jihad, detonated on Israeli territory. According to Zionist Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, this target for this operation is to “to destroy the arsenals and eliminate the Hamas leaders”. With this aim, Israeli army has so far attacked some 600 targets in Gaza, using air raids, heavy artillery and land-air missiles that are playing havoc among the Palestinian population. Israel cynically asserts that they are raiding “military targets” while it actually is homes, schools, public building and busy streets what is under fire. The truth is that Gaza is burning and Israeli bombs shower all over the Fringe.
The situation became worse when the Israeli army killed Ahmed Yabari, a known political figure and military chief of Hamas. Tel Aviv vindicated this action as “chirurgical operation” carried out with the support of Intelligence in order to destroy the “commanding chain of the Hamas leadership as well as the terrorist infrastructure”. This is another selective murder against the members of Palestinian resistance, just as the other hundreds of cases have been, where Nazi-Zionists kill or jail Palestinian activists in order to behead resistance.
Zionism prepares land invasion
There are strong elements that make us believe that Israel will not at the massive air-raids and is preparing land invasion. Ehud Barak, Israeli Minister of Defence, ordered mobilisation of more than 75 000 reservists to “make the Palestinians pay the price” for their attacks. This would have similar or worse effects than those produced in 2008, with the latest land incursion, known as 1300 people and left thousands of injured, apart from destroying some 4000 houses used as living quarters and damaging 15% of all housing units. A military invasion would only accrue the massacre of the Palestinian people, but would be consistent with the policy of extermination that the Nazi-Zionist state executes on the Palestinians ever since 1948.

Palestinian people resist heroically
In spite of the immense military superiority of the aggressor, Palestinians resist. Hamas, pressed by the popular resistance and wrath, has declared, “Israel has opened the gates to hell” and responds to the attacks launching so far 550 missiles against Israeli cities. For the first time since the 1991 Gulf War, air-raid sirens wailed over Jerusalem. Actually, three of the Fajr-5 hit the Gush Etzion colony, south-east of Jerusalem. This is the first time that a missile hits the “holy city” since 1970 and the Palestinian people cheered. Moreover, Palestinian resistance has also reported that their militias had shot down an Israeli F-16 aeroplane over flying Gaza; they used the land-air missile. All this is happening in spite of the military superiority of Israel, who used the anti air raid system, Iron Dome, to intercept 192 missiles launched from Gaza.
Obama supports Israel unconditionally
Not unexpectedly, American imperialism sided with their military enclave in the Middle East. From Washington, the Obama administration asserted that Israel “has a right to self-defence”. “We point blank condemn the barrage if missiles from Israel to the south of Israel”, stated the American State Department. This is the way that imperialism has always supported the usurpation of territories and the systematic mass murder on the Palestinian people committed by Zionism.
The role of Morsi and the Moslem Brotherhood
In the midst of this conflict, Morsi, president of Egypt, pretends to find the balance on the tight rope. On the one hand, he pretends to be regarded as a defender of the Palestinian cause, uttering speeches saying, “Israelites must understand that is aggression is unacceptable and that it may lead instability in the entire region”, opening temporarily the frontier with Gaza at the Rafah Path so as to see to the wounded and sending his Prime Minister, Hisham Kandil, to visit the Fringe. He has also called his Ambassador back from Tel Aviv and summoned the Israeli diplomat residing in El Cairo for consultation.

The Moslem Brotherhood, of which Hamas claims to be the “Palestinian arm”, has also summoned for demonstrations in the capital of Egypt and declared that “The government cannot do anything less than break off all relations with this Zionist entity because the Egyptian state is expected to act as model for the Arabs and the Moslem.”
Morsi has been forced to take up all these action that are more of an attempt at a dramatic effect, acted out so as not to have rubs with Egyptian people and the Arab masses in general – who have historically backed the Palestinians and exposed the existence of the State of Israel – than any effective measures. Actually, mass demonstrations exposing the Zionist attacks have taken place in several Arab countries, such as Iran, Pakistan and Turkey.
It is necessary to demand from Morsi to break off his diplomatic and commercial relations with Israel and USA, beginning with the annulment of the peace treaty with the Zionist enclave signed in 1979.
The betrayal of Abbas and Al Fatah
On the other hand, Mahmud Abbas, the chairman of the National Palestinian Administration and leader of the Al Fatah limited himself to demand a “ceasefire” and ask the Arab League and the UN Security Council for an “urgency meeting”. It is not possible to expect anything else from this leadership, a puppet of both, USA and Israel; they have already overtly betrayed the historic demands of the Palestinian people.
For the defence of Gaza and unconditional support for Palestinian resistance!
From the IWL-FI, we condemn this attack of Israel and we unconditionally stand on the side of the Palestinian resistance and for the defence of Gaza. That is why we believe that the most ample mobilisation and international solidarity, beginning by the Arab countries, to demand the immediate end of the bombing raids and of the blockade on the Fringe and the opening of all the frontier paths.
It is fundamental for all the social organisations, of organisations of human rights and of the left to speak up against the Zionist attacks and begin a campaign of support for Gaza and the Palestinian resistance.
We must demand that all governments, above all hose of the Middle East, to break off their diplomatic and commercial relations with the Nazi Zionist regime of Israel, the same as the shipment of weapons and any other kind of material aid to the Palestinian resistance that is fighting against Israeli attacks.
The Israeli savage behaviouron the Gaza Fringe is sufficient proof of the fact that there can be no peace in the Middle East or respect for the rights of the Palestinian people as long as the State of Israel exists. Hence the urgent need of maintaining and building up the permanent campaign against Israel, with the perspective of the destruction of this military enclave of imperialism. All this is part of the framework posing that the only manner of really defending the rights of the Palestinian people is to fight for the destruction of the destruction of the State of Israel and the construction of a Secular, Democratic and Non-Racist Palestine on the entire historic territory of Palestine. |
