King Juan Carlos quit his Crown this morning (June 2nd) and right now the government is making preparations to pass it on to his heir and proclaim him King on a solemn session of the Cortes (Spanish parliament)  that will take place on the next days.

Rajoy, always a good lackey, described Juan Carlos as the maker and pillar of what they like to call, Spanish democracy.

Later, Rubacalba, on behalf of PSOE, repeated the same praises made by Rajoy. UPyD also joined the chorus as well as CCOO and UGT leadership.

The abdication is a desperate attempt to preserve monarchy, eroded from its inside by corruption, but still the main symbol of a regime that has never been so questioned than right now.

The European elections results gave another push to its crisis since they hit the PP and the PSOE, the two main parties of the regime and its key pillars.

Rajoy and Rubacalba, afraid of the popular response they can sense, are calling for calm and normality. However, this is just the right time for everyone to walk out to the streets. It is the time to checkmate monarchy. What until recently seemed to be impossible can become a reality now.

We celebrate the call of Izquierda Unida, PODEMOS, the nationalist left and other forces to walk out to the streets and demand a constitutional referendum about monarchy that allow the people to get rid of this reactionary institution.

It is the time to free ourselves from the monarchy. It is also the time to force Rajoy’s resignation, now that he completely lost his legitimacy in the last elections. It is time to build a constituent process that guarantee the right of nationalities that rely on protest and popular organization and change, from top to bottom, the foundations of this one that “they call democracy but it is not”

All to the streets! Down with the monarchy! Referendum now!
