They joined the broad opposition that fights Assad in Syria, funded and supported logistically and politically by the imperialism, the Turkish state and Gulf monarchies.
ISIS uses its power to attack the Syrian rebels first. Meanwhile they solidify their military and political hegemony by taking advantage of the political crisis in Iraq, obtaining support from Baath regime’s old armed or civilian bureaucrats and the Sunni bourgeoisie. ISIS has been controlling the Ambar state (Ramadi, Felluce) in western Iraq for one year. Now they are attacking strategic towns; at Shengal they attacked Ezidi Kurds, at Telafer they attacked Turkmens; they try to wrestle the people’s will in the region by terror actions, massacres and rapes.
ISIL tries to widen its power towards Syria. Kobane Canton of Rojava is a strategic barrier against their headway and a hope for the people in the region –with its secular-democratic constitution and self-government. They are attacking Kobane for near a month from three fronts and Kobane’s people are still surrounded by ISIS.

The Kurdish people living in Turkey started to cross the border of Kobane in solidarity. Then ISIS began to attack the Mursitpinar Border Gate, the only part of Kobane which was not under siege. The evacuation of the villages near the Border Gate raised a great anger against the Turkish AKP government, added by the frustrated ‘peace negotiations’ and its openly support for ISIS. Now the Kurdish people and all the sectors that cannot bear this massacre of people in Kobane went to the streets.
The Turkish’s police and army attack brutally the mass demonstrations. When the army and police are not sufficient, the government mobilizes nationalist, racist and Islamist groups against the masses. The massacres perpetrated by officers of ‘civil’ groups trigger the anger of the unarmed masses.
The accumulation of anger makes the masses open to all kind of provocations and dispersion, independent of the leaderships’ will. The government uses the attacks on companies, supermarkets and state institutions resulting from this anger to demagogically prevent the Turkish workers from unifying with the Kurdish people’s legitimate demands.
Their solution
Imperialism tries to maintain the security of oil fields, solve the crisis of its puppet governments and chasten ISIS by air strikes. The air strikes do not mean a real attempt to stop the massacre of the people in the region. To stop the massacre, Kobane firstly needs heavy weapons, then medical and humanitarian aid. However, the imperialism and states of the region, of course Turkey first and foremost, are totally hypocritical. The aid pours to Barzani forces while there’s no aid to PYD which is the only fighting force in Kobane and the whole Rojava.
The attempts of the AKP Government to settle a ‘buffer zone’ or ‘security zone’ inside Syria reflect the aim at controlling Syrian opposition sectors and destroying the Rojava revolution. The useless steps that the AKP government has taken to become a ‘regional power’ can only end with greater exploitation and repression against the people of the region.
The democratic and secular constitution developed by the people in Rojava is a very important achievement. On the other hand, the lack of centralization of the democratic opposition in Syria allows the resurgence of Jihadists and opens the way of compromise between Assad and imperialism.
Our Solution

To frustrate the attacks of imperialism, AKP Government and ISIS, the workers should develop their own solutions together with the struggles of the oppressed people of our region. From this point of view, the RED Movement condemns the massacres and cruelty that suffered by the Kurdish people. Peace can only be established in the Middle East by defending an unconditional right to national self-determination.
Today, starting in Kobane and spreading to all over Turkey, the defense of the people is the central task. All the workers and oppressed population of our country should organize a common resistance against the reactionary regime and the fascist/Islamo-fascist gangs.
The AKP government should immediately establish a corridor to Kobane for the delivery of heavy weapons and medical and humanitarian aid to the Kobane’s people, so that they are able to defend themselves against the attack of ISIS.
There is no need to military intervention of imperialism and Turkey by using the pretext of ‘helping the Kobane’s people’.
