\nThe Socialist Workers Party from Colombia rejects the attempt against the CUT leader \u00c1lvaro Vega in the city of Cali.<\/p>\n

The attack is part of an aggression mood that has been imposed upon the trade union movement in the state of the Valle del Cauca. This included the attempt against the Sintraemcali central offices in past April and the destruction of the vehicle of the vice-president of this same trade union in May.<\/p>\n

Information from the local media that gathers the reports of the trade union and political leaders of the region link those attacks with the development of the Dragon Operation, which aims at seeking the murder of leftist leaders, human right activists and trade unionists. These attacks have been taking place after the resumption of the trials against several military who are being prosecuted for their relationship with human rights violations.<\/p>\n

Murder and terror have been the methods used by the Colombian bourgeoisie and the multinationals to guarantee their interests; the workers being their favorite target. These methods have been sponsored, in action or omission, by all the Colombian governments.<\/p>\n

Therefore, the only method left for the workers is to turn to their own forces, their own organizations to protect their leaders: the production stoppages are then the best tool to stop the genocide that the employers are going through with.<\/p>\n

It is evident that the peace offered by Santos is only peace for the bourgeoisie. We call the materialization of the most ample unity of the trade union movement and the left political forces by convening a National Meeting of Popular and Trade Union Leaders under Threat that will allow the construction of propositions to protect the workers\u00b4 leaders.<\/p>\n

Stop the threats and murders of worker, trade union and popular leaders!<\/strong><\/p>\n
