Este a\u00f1o se conmemora el 40<sup>\u00ba<\/sup> aniversario de esta festividad. Nacido el 15 de enero de 1929, King es una de las figuras fundamentales de la lucha por la liberaci\u00f3n de los negros. Su importancia no puede ser sobreestimada. \u00c9l proporcion\u00f3 un gran impulso para el avance en la lucha a mediados del siglo XX. Aunque el legado ha sido suavizado para el consumo de las masas y la comodidad de la clase dominante, King cuestion\u00f3 el car\u00e1cter del sistema que ha oprimido a los negros durante siglos.<\/p>\n<p>La conciencia pol\u00edtica puede crecer con la lucha. Cuando las demandas modestas se contestan con violencia, el sistema revela su verdadera naturaleza, y que no puede ser simplemente reformado. A partir de esta experiencia se construye la conciencia de clase, que afecta no solo a las masas que participan en el movimiento, sino tambi\u00e9n a sus l\u00edderes.<\/p>\n<p>El Dr. King lleg\u00f3 a la conclusi\u00f3n de que el mismo sistema responsable de la brutal opresi\u00f3n de los afroamericanos tambi\u00e9n somet\u00eda a los pueblos de \u00c1frica, Asia y Am\u00e9rica Latina a un estado de subyugaci\u00f3n. Mientras que sea patrocinador de golpes de Estado, robo de recursos y asesinatos en masa, Estados Unidos habla como si fuera el proveedor de la democracia y el pilar de las leyes internacionales. King identific\u00f3 la verdad del asunto tras las mentiras.<\/p>\n<p>La defensa de la no violencia por parte de King era sincera, pero cuando llev\u00f3 su mensaje al norte del pa\u00eds, a las comunidades negras largamente olvidadas, fue recibido con escepticismo. Ellos quedaban en el punto de la mira de las plagas del desempleo, la pobreza, la segregaci\u00f3n y el acoso y la brutalidad policial omnipresentes.<\/p>\n<p>Los viajes de King al norte estuvieron plagados de la ira de los blancos, una rabia que algunos podr\u00edan haber pensado quedaba confinada en el sur del pa\u00eds. Pero, como escribi\u00f3 Franz Fanon: \u00abun pa\u00eds es racista o no lo es\u00bb. Los prejuicios no se limitaban a una regi\u00f3n. La segregaci\u00f3n era la ley del pa\u00eds. El caso hist\u00f3rico de Brown contra la Junta de Educaci\u00f3n de Topeka, Kansas, fue el punto de inflexi\u00f3n en el desmantelamiento de la segregaci\u00f3n. Kansas no es el sur. Tampoco lo es Boston, que se convirti\u00f3 en el centro de atenci\u00f3n de los intentos de eliminar la segregaci\u00f3n en las escuelas p\u00fablicas y donde King encabez\u00f3 una marcha contra la segregaci\u00f3n en abril de 1965. Pero fue la experiencia de King en Chicago lo que le llev\u00f3 a lamentarse: \u00abHe participado en muchas manifestaciones en todo el sur, pero puedo decir que nunca he visto, ni siquiera en Misisipi, multitudes tan hostiles y llenas de odio como en Chicago\u00bb. En 1965, Estados Unidos se hab\u00eda comprometido con miles de soldados en una guerra que se convirti\u00f3 en la m\u00e1s larga de la historia del pa\u00eds (hasta que la guerra de Afganist\u00e1n, de 20 a\u00f1os de duraci\u00f3n, la eclips\u00f3). Las im\u00e1genes de bombardeos, asesinatos, quema de aldeas y recuentos masivos de cad\u00e1veres llegaron a los salones de todo el pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abM\u00e1s all\u00e1 de Vietnam\u00bb es el discurso m\u00e1s radical de Martin Luther King y es tan relevante ahora como lo era entonces; la declaraci\u00f3n sobre el imperialismo estadounidense resuena a trav\u00e9s de los siglos. Las guerras y los rumores de guerra llegan a casa, y las consecuencias recaen con fuerza sobre la clase trabajadora y los pobres. King se\u00f1al\u00f3 las prioridades de Estados Unidos en su cambio de los programas sociales a la financiaci\u00f3n del esfuerzo b\u00e9lico en Vietnam.<\/p>\n<p>Concluy\u00f3: \u00abSab\u00eda que Estados Unidos nunca invertir\u00eda los fondos o las energ\u00edas necesarios en la rehabilitaci\u00f3n de sus pobres mientras aventuras como Vietnam siguieran absorbiendo hombres, habilidades y dinero como un tubo de succi\u00f3n demon\u00edaco y destructivo. Por lo tanto, me sent\u00ed cada vez m\u00e1s obligado a ver la guerra como un enemigo de los pobres y a atacarla como tal\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>La guerra robaba a la clase trabajadora a sus j\u00f3venes, que luchaban y mor\u00edan o regresaban da\u00f1ados y perdidos. \u00abEst\u00e1bamos tomando a j\u00f3venes negros que hab\u00edan sido mutilados por nuestra sociedad y los envi\u00e1bamos a ocho mil millas de distancia para garantizar libertades en el sur de Asia que no hab\u00edan encontrado en el suroeste de Georgia y el este de Harlem\u00bb. La libertad, la democracia y la independencia no tenian nada que ver con lo que estaba haciendo el ej\u00e9rcito. El ej\u00e9rcito estadounidense no estaba llevando nada de eso a Asia ni a ning\u00fan otro lugar. Lo que llevaba era miseria, un hedor que perdura.<\/p>\n<p>Cuando King se dirigi\u00f3 al norte, se enfrent\u00f3 a una ira que intent\u00f3 apaciguar. Intent\u00f3 ser comprensivo y \u00abcompasivo\u00bb, al tiempo que manten\u00eda su \u00abconvicci\u00f3n de que el cambio social se produce de forma m\u00e1s significativa a trav\u00e9s de la acci\u00f3n no violenta\u00bb. Una respuesta habitual era: \u00ab\u00bfY Vietnam?\u00bb. Esa violencia se retransmit\u00eda todos los d\u00edas para que todos la vieran. King dijo: \u00abNunca m\u00e1s podr\u00eda alzar mi voz contra la violencia de los oprimidos en los guetos sin haber hablado primero claramente al mayor proveedor de violencia del mundo actual: mi propio gobierno\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>El car\u00e1cter siempre destructivo del imperialismo se resume en la intervenci\u00f3n estadounidense a lo largo del siglo XX. A medida que las crisis se extienden por todo el sistema mundial, ha llegado el momento de que la clase dominante reviva los viejos fantasmas. Marx escribi\u00f3: \u00abLa historia se repite, la primera vez como tragedia, la segunda como farsa\u00bb. Ahora tenemos el resurgimiento de Trump de la diplomacia de las ca\u00f1oneras de Theodore Roosevelt y la Doctrina Monroe. Ha recurrido a invadir y amenazar a otros pa\u00edses.<\/p>\n<p>A nivel nacional, los inmigrantes son perseguidos, golpeados o maltratados de otras formas, y a veces asesinados. Una administraci\u00f3n autoritaria est\u00e1 en proceso de demoler todos los derechos, incluidos los frutos del movimiento liderado por el Dr. King. Es un ataque directo al legado de Martin Luther King. De hecho, es un ataque a gran escala a todos los avances que se han logrado en este pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n<p>Martin Luther King entendi\u00f3 que esta opresi\u00f3n no era un caso aislado.
