OUR FIGHT IS AT HOME &#8211; NOT IN VIETNAM!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>THE CHICANO MORATORIUM<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><em>(50-year Commemoration)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Chicano Moratorium, \u00a0August 29, 1970, was one of the first massive working-class street demonstrations against the war in Vietnam.\u00a0The Chicano movement was a key component of the fight against the Vietnam War.\u00a0 Student and community groups, along with the independent Raza Unida Party, eventually mobilized millions of workers in opposition to US imperialism.\u00a0Over 30,000 protesters marched in Los Angeles that day.\u00a0 Ruben Salazar, a respected Chicano journalist, was killed by LA County police following the action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The transformative power of the Chicano movement is alive and well in today&#8217;s immigrant rights mobilizations. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">*****<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Image: CHICANO MORATORIUM &amp; RUBEN SALAZAR<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mural: <strong>THE SPIRIT LIVES<\/strong> By Jerry Butler and Mike Alewitz.
