The fictional work \u2014 with episodes of romance and humor, and stirring battle scenes \u2014 is based on real events.<\/p>\n<p>The story involves a character, Arthur Rose, a young idealistic worker from Philadelphia who volunteers to fight in Spain in early 1937. He is wounded during a suicidal charge up a hill in Aragon. Much later, in 1953, he is entrusted with a \u201cmission\u201d to return to Spain, now under the Francisco Franco dictatorship. Memories of his adventures during the war, and the guilt that he harbors from those days, come flooding back.<\/p>\n<p>The reading by the author will take about 40 minutes, with time for questions afterward.
