\nOn 16 February, <\/span>our comrade Mar\u00eda Rivera <\/span>was charged with \u201cImproper Sedition\u201d and summoned to testify in court as a defendant. She is a<\/span> leader of the MIT, of <\/span>Defensa Popular<\/span> (<\/span>Popular Defence<\/span>)<\/span> and candidate for <\/span>the<\/span> Constituent for District 8 (on the People\u2019s List). The lawsuit was filed by Carabineros1<\/sup><\/a> officers, for openly <\/span>demanding<\/span> the troops of the repressive forces to stop massacring our people.<\/span><\/em>

\nWe reject the Carabineros\u2019 and the judiciary\u2019<\/span>s<\/span> suit<\/span>. <\/span>The <\/span>Carabineros <\/span>are<\/span> one of the most <\/span>contested<\/span> institutions by the Chilean people and ha<\/span>ve<\/span> no legitimacy to <\/span>make <\/span>judicial or other actions against social activists. We also know that Justice is at the service of the families that own this country and the foreign capitalists. <\/span>T<\/span>hat is why <\/span>they<\/span> condemn and persecute the activists and let <\/span>go<\/span> free the Carabineros <\/span>and military<\/span> murderers and the corrupt rich who exploit the workers and plunge the people into misery and the contagion of Covid.<\/span>
\nThis attack against our comrade and our organisation comes in the context of the persecution and imprisonment of <\/span>protesters<\/span> who do not accept to <\/span>bow <\/span>down<\/span> and continue to fight for real social transformations. Since the signing of the Peace <\/span>Agreement<\/span> we have <\/span>exposed<\/span> the undemocratic <\/span>ongoing <\/span>Constituent Process, because elections are being held <\/span>while <\/span>there are hundreds of political prisoners, thousands of persecuted people and <\/span>the <\/span>Carabineros continue to kill workers and young people in the streets of the country.<\/span>
\nSince the beginning of this <\/span>r<\/span>evolution, our organisation made a legitimate call to the Carabineros and Armed Forces troops not to attack and massacre their own people. We reaffirm this call to all Carabineros and <\/span>military<\/span> troops: do not obey your corrupt officers to massacre your own people!<\/span>
\nWe also reaffirm that our comrade and our organisation will not be silenced!<\/span>
\nWe call on all social and human rights organisations, fighters, collectives, independent candidates and those who are in favour of the struggle to stand in solidarity with our comrade.
\nFrom now on we will start a national and international campaign in defence of our comrade! We will not accept any intimidation, we will not accept that they attack our comrade, our organisation and a revolutionary candidate<\/span>!<\/span>
