Facing threats from bankers: hands off Catalonia!

SPANISH STATE

Spanish banks (AEB and CECA) has fully entered the Catalan electoral campaign.  Alarmed by the results of a poll they have commissioned, that gave most seats and votes for the candidates for independence, they threatened that “if the current legality is broken,” they would “reconsider their strategy of implantation, consequently risking the reduction of bank offer and, with this, the financial exclusion, credit shortage and its rising rate.”
The ones who are responsible for and beneficiaries of the economic crisis, those who have cheated and robbed the people, those who have been bailed out with public money at the expense of mass unemployment, cuts and privatization, now have the gall to blackmail the Catalan people.
It must be stressed the role the two main Catalan banks, La Caixa (CaixaBank) and Banco Sabadell have had in this operation, which form a prominent part of the Spanish [1] financial oligarchy.
The entrance onstage of banks adds to the big Catalan and Spanish employers and to the blackmail campaign launched by the Spanish government, which has threatened to suspend the Catalan autonomy and has even suggested the Army intervention. In the same pattern against the right to decide of the Catalan people, it can be added the statements made by Obama, Angela Merkel, Cameron and the European Commission.
The threats of banking and the big bosses, the Spanish government, Berlin and Brussels, have to turn into an encouragement to urgently proclaim the Catalan Republic and defend it from the onslaught of the State; to break with the EU and the Euro, which only admit vassals; to join forces with the working class and the peoples of the Spanish State and Europe together to overcome the same enemies.
As for the banks, which threaten to relocate their offices and close offices and credit in Catalonia, the answer has to be clear: one of the first measures of the Catalan Republic, once proclaimed, is to take hold of them and put them under public and working class control.
